Breaking Taboos – A Journey of Strength and Self-Belief

Kameshwari Jandhyala, a Hyderabad-based research consultant, was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in 2013 during a routine screening. Having witnessed cancer closely in her family from a young age, she approached her diagnosis with awareness, resilience, and a determination to act swiftly.

After careful consideration, she chose to undergo treatment under the guidance of Dr. Raghu Ram at the KIMS-USHALAKSHMI Centre for Breast Diseases. Impressed by his patient-centric approach and clear communication, she felt confident in her decision. After understanding her options, she opted for a mastectomy based on her personal preference.

Her surgery was successfully performed, and she recovered smoothly without the need for chemotherapy, as the cancer was detected at an early stage. Supported by her loving family, including her husband and daughter, she was able to navigate the emotional and physical aspects of her journey with strength.

Kameshwari returned to her professional work within a few months, choosing not to let cancer define or slow her down. She believes that staying engaged with one’s passions and maintaining normalcy plays a crucial role in recovery.

Today, she actively advocates for early detection and encourages open conversations around cancer, breaking the stigma often associated with the disease. She emphasizes the importance of regular screenings, strong family support, and mental resilience.

Her story is a powerful reminder that awareness, timely action, and inner strength can help overcome even life’s most challenging moments.
