Strength in Support – A Journey of Courage and Resilience

Shalini Nayar, a Delhi-based professional, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 50 during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. What began as the discovery of a lump quickly led to a life-changing diagnosis. Despite the uncertainty and challenges of the pandemic, she chose to face the situation with determination and a positive mindset.

Under the expert guidance of Dr. Raghu Ram at KIMS-USHALAKSHMI Centre for Breast Diseases in Hyderabad, her treatment plan was carefully structured. It included chemotherapy, followed by breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy with lymph node removal), and radiotherapy. Due to travel restrictions, parts of her treatment were coordinated across cities, ensuring continuity of care.

Her journey through chemotherapy was challenging, especially dealing with hair loss and emotional strain. However, she remained resilient, supported by her family, particularly her husband and daughter, who stood by her throughout the process. Their unwavering support played a crucial role in helping her navigate this difficult phase.

Her surgery was successfully performed, with advanced oncoplastic techniques ensuring effective treatment along with good cosmetic outcomes. Post-surgery, she continued her recovery with strength and positivity.

Today, Shalini has embraced a more balanced lifestyle, prioritizing her well-being and letting go of stress. She strongly believes that emotional and family support is essential for every cancer patient and emphasizes the importance of staying positive during treatment.

Her story is a powerful reminder that with the right support system, expert medical care, and inner strength, it is possible to face cancer with courage and come out stronger.
