A Fighter, Not a Victim
Dharini Arvind, a young professional working in the cancer unit at KIMS Hospital, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 24, just a year after her marriage. Her medical background and awareness led her to identify a lump early, which was later confirmed as malignant.
Under the expert care of Dr. Raghu Ram, she underwent surgery followed by chemotherapy and radiation. Despite the emotional shock and concerns about her future, including fertility, Dharini chose to face the situation with remarkable courage and clarity.
Determined not to let cancer disrupt her life, she continued working throughout her treatment, taking minimal time off. She approached every stage—surgery, chemotherapy, and recovery—with a positive mindset, even choosing to shave her head proactively to deal with hair loss.
Her husband and family stood firmly by her side, providing unwavering emotional support. Their encouragement, along with her own resilience, helped her navigate the physical and mental challenges of treatment.
Dharini strongly believes in facing adversity head-on. Rather than seeking sympathy, she embraced her journey with strength, often saying she is “a fighter, not a victim.” Today, she uses her experience to inspire others, especially patients she interacts with, encouraging them to stay strong and hopeful.
Her journey is a powerful reminder that with determination, support, and the right medical care, even the toughest battles can be overcome.
